In 1906, Lucien Millot created the plantation that produces the cacao found in this tablet in Andzavibe, Madagascar that today still bears his name and is now an organic certified plantation spanning around 600 hectares. The Société Millot in partnership with fine couverture producer Valrhona employs almost 500 local People. Valrhona has had a relationship in Madagascar with Millot for over 30 years and is now a co-owner of the plantation. This fine couverture has a very fruity flavour profile, with notes of citrus and a full bodied cacao finish.

This tablet is made from very rare wild cacao Criollo Amazonico that grows on small islands deep in the rainforest lowlands in the province of Beni in Bolivia, the Cacao trees are left to nature except during harvesting and are never fertilised or trimmed and is the same cacao the ancient Olmecs and Mayans used for their rituals. The wild-growing cacao is harvested by the indigenous Chimane people, whose livelihoods have been greatly improved by the Cacao trade. This truly unique cacao offers fruity has intense cacao flavours with notes of grapefruit, citrus and plums.

Did you know cacao beans grow inside the cacao fruit surrounded by a delicious sweet pulp? That pulp has been viewed as a waste product until recently, but it is both nutritious and delicious, which means there is less waste in cacao production and an extra revenue stream for the cacao farmers! The cacao fruit pulp has a sweet and tangy flavour that reminds of honey and apricots and pairs incredibly well with our home 70% blend couverture. Ingredients: Cacao fruit pulp, pectin, glucose, sugar, citric acid, cocoa butter, cocoa solids. While this product is suitable for vegans, it is produced in a facility that contains Milk, Nuts, Wheat and Egg.
